Joe Cunningham
I started my plumbing apprenticeship in the commercial/industrial/institutional plumbing & heating trade in 1988. Having obtained my plumbing license in Sept. 1993 my goal was to work as one of many on projects. I never had aspirations of being a job foreman let alone a project manager & estimator but my employer had different plans. After a few years of working in the field as a job foreman I had the opportunity to work in the office as an estimator / project manager. The most important thing I learned working as a job foreman and later as a project manager is that a company’s most valuable resource is its employees.
When I opened Design/Build Mechanical Limited in 2013, my number one goal was to surround myself with self-motivated, professional plumbers and apprentices. This simple, yet powerful frame of mind has made my job easier as an owner. The going was rocky the first 3 years but as a result of Design/Build Mechanical’s employees work ethic and attention to detail has helped move the company forward into its seventh year of operation.
